Della was an experienced researcher, publisher and transcriber of many genealogical records in Westmoreland County, PA in the 1960's. Her work has helped many people since. She is also a descendant of Sherbondy Family Clan C (Catherine Sherbondy Reagan) and compiled a genealogy of the Sherbondy/Reagan Clans (C and E). She died in November, 1980 in McKeesport, Allegheny County, PA.

Memo: According to the Fayette County, PA history (see copy on the unconnected clan page of the web site), a "Miss Sherbondy" married a Mr. Richey. The Mr. Richey was either Andrew F. Richey or James Richey and the other mans' spouse was Laverna P. Barnus. The history is vague on these two spouses. Research must be done to find the first name and birth year of the spouse of Andrew F. Richey (Ritchie). Census records could be searched. Andrew purchased the Fairmont Virginian newspaper in West Virginia and changed the name to the Fairmont National. He died in 1867 in WV.

Memo: Rosannah Sherbondy was reportedly born in 1807 or in 1801. The SFA has no information on Rosannah's birth nor her parents. We have a marriage records from 1828 in Portage Twp, OH where she (Rosannah Sabanda or Shabundy) married Ezekiel Parker. No information about Rosannah's parents were given on the marriage record. More information is needed about Rosannah such as birth, baptismal and any census records from 1830 or after from the Ezekiel Parker household which may indicate Rosannah's year of birth.

It is also possible that she is not a Sherbondy descendant and that her name is similar to Sherbondy variations. It is also possible that Catherine married James or Andrew Richey. We have received some documents needed for this research but they have not yet been computerized and reviewed in detail. We will update this task as this work progresses.

Memo: Copy of the German version birth record of George Washington Sherbondy (H) and Heinrich Huston Sherbondy (possibly unconnected clan HHS), sons of John and Catherine (Clan H). These birth and baptismal records are from the Denmark Manor Lutheran Church, Franklin Township, Westmoreland County, later known as St. John's Lutheran Church. Transcribed birth record shows 14 Aug 1836 as George's and Heinrich's birth dates (twins). George has multiple later records with a birth date of 16 Aug 1830. Also, the unconnected clan ancestor Henry H. Sherbondy has a birth date of 1829 per family records. We need the original German version from the PA church to determine if there was a transcription error or if this George b. 1830 and Henry b. 1829 are from other families.

Memo: George Washington Sherbondy (H) moved frequently and we only know of 1 child, Frank. We also need confirmation of his birth year. We know he was in Westmoreland Co., PA in 1850 and in Grand Bend, NE in 1885. He was also in Dundy Co., NE in 1907. We need census records for 1860, 1870 and 1880, but we do not know where he was. Per his pension record, in 1862, he enrolled in service in Toledo, Ohio. He was honorably discharged in 1865 and after he was discharged (up to 1907) he lived in Cedar Falls, Ohio, Bremer (spelling unclear) Co., Iowa, Alda, Nebraska and Benkelman, Dundy Co., NE.

Memo: Reliable birth information is needed for Levi Sherbondy, son of John Sherbondy (Clan A). The SFA has 6 sources which indicate 6 different birth dates for Levi ranging from 1812 to 1820. The most detailed are 2 dates, Jan 1814 from one researcher and Feb 1814 per the 1900 census . We have the 1830 census (1815-1820) and the 1870 census (1815). The SFA has Feb 1814 as the primary date but we are not very sure of this. We recently received the 1850 census (1823) and 1880 census (1816) but they do not help matters, except to indicate before 1815 may not be correct. Any census, birth, baptismal or other records with information as to Levi's birth would be appreciated.
