1. John SHERBONDY (1)¹^,²^,³^,⁴ was born in Germany.⁵^,⁶ He was born in France (he was a "Frenchman").⁴^,⁷ He was born in France (I remember my father saying his family were French Huegenots and left during the religious persecution in Europe).⁸ He was born in France (My husband told me his Dad told him, they came to Ft. Wayne, Ind. from France when it was still a fort).⁹ He married Maria Catharina Bossert (1) (In a deed dated 12 April 1773, Philip Bossert and Evah Catherine Bossert deeded property to their son John Melchor Bossert, "except for 2 acres reserved for their son-in-law, John Sharpienter." Maria Catharina listed in communion records as Cherpantierin, meaning Cherpantier's wife).¹⁰^,¹¹^,⁷^,¹²^,¹³ He died on 28 Dec 1798 in South Huntington Township, Westmoreland, PA.¹⁴^,¹⁵^,¹⁶

Mary BETTS (15) (NOTE: Corinne Hoffpauir states that a correspondent of hers has Mary Betts and Sarah Betts as daughers of Andrew and Catherine (Sherbondy) Betts/Betz. My evidence does not support this. My evidence gives the conclusion that Andrew first married a Catrina, who bore his children and who died before he arrived in Crawford County (approx 1800).
