We document our sources clearly. If you have sources that are more reliable than the ones we cite, please send us a copy so we can include them for others to see.
IMPORTANCE OF SOURCES
In genealogical publications, the information included is only as reliable as the source that it came from. Any stated fact must be verifiable by other people. The SFA has identified the source of every item in our database. We believe that accurate and full identification of the source is more important than the data itself. This is why the explanation of our sources are so long. The most reliable sources are birth certificates, marriage certificates and death certificates. Please keep this in mind when sending us updates to our data. Obituaries are also an excellent source of genealogical information. An Obituary has more information on a family than any other single source!
Please send us copies of these certificates and other documents whenever possible. This will make the information you submit "indisputable." Thanks for your help!
